Day-by-day itinerary
- Day 1: Travel to Lushoto
Journey to the western Usambaras and meet the local walking guide. Review trail conditions and settle into a Lushoto guesthouse.
- Day 2: Magamba forest walk
Walk from farmland into forest with a guide who interprets plants, birds and local history. Return by a different village path when conditions permit.
- Day 3: Lushoto countryside
Follow footpaths between cultivated valleys, viewpoints and small settlements. Lunch and conversation with local hosts add context without turning daily life into a performance.
- Day 4: Toward Mtae
Drive and walk deeper into the range, finishing near a dramatic ridge viewpoint. Trail length is adjusted around weather and the group’s comfort.
- Day 5: Usambara departure
Take a final morning walk or market visit, then continue by road to Arusha, Moshi, Tanga or Dar es Salaam according to the wider itinerary.
