Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day 1: Arusha setup and briefing

    Meet the guide, discuss lenses and subjects, test charging arrangements and agree how the vehicle will be organised. Extra equipment can be safely stored in Arusha if required.

  2. Day 2: Tarangire river country

    Enter early and work the baobab, elephant and dry-river landscapes. Your guide considers light direction and background while maintaining respectful wildlife distance.

  3. Day 3: Tarangire dawn and dusk

    Use the cooler hours for activity and the middle of the day for lunch, backups and rest. Stay alert for elephant interactions, raptors and smaller subjects as well as headline wildlife.

  4. Day 4: Ngorongoro highlands

    Travel to the highlands with landscape and cultural opportunities along the route. Review the next day’s crater plan and prepare for variable temperatures and light.

  5. Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater

    Descend when access opens and use the full permitted day to explore changing habitats. Wide environmental frames and animal behaviour receive as much attention as close portraits.

  6. Day 6: Serengeti arrival

    Cross onto the plains and photograph along the way. Reach a strategically located camp with time for the last light near kopjes or river habitat.

  7. Days 7-8: Serengeti photography days

    Two complete days give the guide time to revisit promising areas, wait for behaviour and react to fresh reports. Carry a picnic when distance or light makes returning to camp impractical.

  8. Day 9: Final drive and flight

    Photograph one last sunrise before the transfer to the airstrip or drive back through Ngorongoro. Memory-card backups and fragile equipment are kept with you during connections.
