Day-by-day itinerary
- Day 1: Dar es Salaam arrival
Private transfer to a city hotel and route briefing. The team confirms road, boat and flight timings because southern logistics vary by season and camp.
- Day 2: Fly to Nyerere
Take a morning light aircraft into Nyerere and begin with a game drive or boat activity, depending on arrival time and water conditions.
- Days 3-4: Nyerere National Park
Use two full days for complementary perspectives: vehicle safaris across lakes and woodland, a Rufiji-system boat outing where operating, and a guided walk if included by the selected camp.
- Day 5: Nyerere to Mikumi
Travel by air or an agreed road sector according to the final operating plan. Enter Mikumi for an afternoon across broad plains backed by distant mountains.
- Day 6: Mikumi National Park
Explore waterholes, grassland and woodland with an early start. The park provides a useful transition between Nyerere’s river system and Ruaha’s drier interior.
- Day 7: Toward Ruaha
Continue to Ruaha by road or scheduled flight. Settle at camp and take a first drive near the Great Ruaha River or seasonal sand rivers.
- Days 8-9: Ruaha in depth
Spend two full days looking for elephants, lions, wild dogs, antelope and abundant birdlife. Split drives, full-day outings and walks depend on camp location and conditions.
- Day 10: Fly to Dar es Salaam
Enjoy a final short activity if the flight schedule permits, then fly to Dar es Salaam. An overnight before an international flight is recommended when connections are tight.
