Tanzania is not a one-season destination. The best time depends on what you want to feel, photograph and prioritise, not only the weather forecast.

June to October: clear and classic

The long dry season brings thinner vegetation and wildlife gathering around dependable water. It is an excellent first-safari window, with crisp mornings and popular parks at their busiest.

November to March: green and alive

Short rains refresh the plains. Migratory birds arrive, calves appear in the southern Serengeti and the light can be extraordinary for photography.

April and May: quiet, lush, rewarding

Long rains can make some tracks slower, but they also bring space, dramatic skies and strong value. A flexible route and well-chosen camps make all the difference.
